C-Wiki

It is often challenging for a single voice to be heard in the din of our political process. Voicing an intelligent, coherent opinion as a larger group can help distinguish what you have to say, and that's where the C-Wiki ("C" stands for "consensus" and "common ground)" comes in. It helps groups author a document together that they're all willing to stand by.

The C-Wiki is a tool to enable groups of any size to work towards a group view on a topic, or to clearly state the main alternatives when no consensus can be reached. It facilitates a collaboration process that is efficient and scalable, focusing the time of most members on providing quick feedback about the alternatives.

Achieving agreement requires taking into account many aspects of human nature -- like the fact that a small number of people usually tend to dominate a group discussion. The C-Wiki might help counteract this by more prominently displaying comments from the less frequent speakers, encouraging participants to communicate clearly and to achieve group alignment.

By focusing attention on the concrete wording of the document rather than the discussion about it (although several forms of discussion are supported), the C-Wiki process facilitates successful joint action by group members without necessarily having to directly address differences of philosophy or analysis.

Depending on the rule settings chosen, each use of the C-Wiki process can produce either a unified final document or a set of clearly-stated alternatives. The process is fully transparent, and after it is complete the evolution of each document can be retraced, facilitating continuing insight into the bases for a group's documents and policies.
