Commenting System

The community database will contain not only factual information about legislative text, legislators, and so on, but also subjective comments by community members. Our goal is to create not only a useful repository of facts, but also a forum where the community can learn from each other about issues that affect them.

The Connect the Dots tool will contain a commenting system allowing people to share their perspectives on any information submitted to the database. And just as the Connect the Dots tool allows people to vote on the accuracy and importance of information in the database, it will allow people to vote on the accuracy and importance of commentary as well, providing a community-driven filter for the most credible opinions.

As with the Connect the Dots tool, an intuitive UI is crucial. The commenting system will graphically organize comments via a flexible filtering system, presenting comments in order of date, user votes, reputation of the commenters, comments from users of a certain political affiliation, and more.
